Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I am Anita Fisher. My work in this field began as a personal journey 18 years ago when my adult son was diagnosed with a Serious Mental Illness.   After my husband and I were educated about mental  illness through the NAMI Family to Family course, I recognized this would be a life long family journey.

My continuing education about mental illness developed into a passion to provide hope for other families, and input to the system of care from the perspective of the family member.

In 2007 I resigned my position in the banking industry and began working at NAMI San Diego (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

.

EXPERIENCE

For over 10 years in my position as Director of Education at NAMI San Diego, I managed the coordination of NAMI's Family and Peer Signature Education and Support Programs.  I oversaw the creation of the Career Pathways to Behavioral Health training program for Family and Peer individuals. My experience includes hiring and managing Peer and Family Specialists in Behavioral Health contracted programs.

I also have extensive experience presenting to Law Enforcement and other Criminal Justice entities.

Previously, I enjoyed an extensive career in banking operations and project management including as a Vice President and Business Systems Analyst at Union Bank of California.
